Photos for your posts
Updated
Posts look best with your own photos, and you probably have some already. Add them to your business's photo library once, and we'll use them in your posts wherever they fit, so you don't need new pictures for every post.
Your photo library
Open Photos & clips from the menu and choose Upload photos or clips. You can upload from your phone or computer, one or several at a time. On a phone, you can also take a photo with the camera.
- Photos can be JPEG, PNG, WebP or iPhone (HEIC), up to 25 MB each.
- Video clips go in the library too, for your short videos. See Short videos.
Your photos are private to your team. IndieAM support sees them only when it's helping you. Before we keep a photo, we turn it the right way up and remove its hidden details, like where and when it was taken.
We write a short description of each photo, so you can search the library by what's in it. To change a description, open the photo and choose Edit under What's in it.
How we fill your posts
When we write a post for an approved plan, we go through its parts for you. Each part says what it should show, with one of these marks:
- Your photo: it needs a photo of your actual business, such as your place, a specific product, your own results, or you and your team. We use one from your library if it fits. If none does, the part waits for you.
- Any photo: a scene, an ingredient, an example of what you work on. It doesn't have to be yours. We use one of your photos if it fits, and otherwise make one with AI. See AI pictures.
Photos we chose say Picked from your photos. You'll see a moment of Adding pictures while we work, and you can approve the post once it's done.
If we're not sure a photo of yours is the right one, it's marked Check this and we tell you why. Choose Keep this picture, or replace or remove it, before you approve the post, because we'd rather ask than post the wrong thing.
We add pictures once for each version of a post. If you remove one, it stays removed. We don't go back later to fill empty parts with photos you've added since, but those photos will be suggested when you choose Add a photo.
Changing a post's photos
Open the post and swipe through its parts. Choose Edit on a part, then Add a photo. We suggest the photos from your library that match the part best. You can also search the library, or upload a new photo straight into the part. To change it later, choose Replace or Remove.
Cropping
Each place has its own shape, like a square post or a tall Story. We crop around the most important spot in the photo.
To move that spot, tap the photo on what should always stay in view. It applies to this part everywhere the post goes. Other posts using the same photo keep their own spot.
Screenshots and pictures you don't want cropped
For a screenshot of your app or website, or any photo where every bit matters, turn on Show the whole picture. We shrink the photo to fit instead of cropping it, set it on a soft, blurred copy of itself, and put the words below it so they never cover it. If cropping would cut off a lot of a photo, we point that out under the switch. It applies to this part everywhere the post goes.
Finished pictures
As soon as a part has a photo, each place shows its finished pictures, cropped to its shape. If some parts still need photos, we tell you how many. Once the post is approved and every part has a photo, it's marked Ready to post.
- Stories and carousels always have their words on the picture. For a single picture, turn on Show the words on the picture if you want them.
- Choose Download (or Download all for several pictures). On a phone, Share sends them straight to another app.
The home and your daily reminder tell you when a post in the next few days still needs photos.
Archiving and deleting
Archive a photo to tidy it out of your library. Posts that already use it keep it, but it isn't offered for new posts. To use it again, open your archived photos and choose Restore.
Delete removes a photo for good, from every post that used it. If a post that hasn't gone out yet still needs the photo, we tell you which post, so you can swap the photo first.
