Automatic or by hand

Updated

Once you approve a post, each place it's going either publishes itself at its time, or is yours to post, and we'll remind you.

What publishes itself

A post publishes itself to a place when IndieAM can publish there and the account is connected. See Connecting your accounts. It goes out on its day, at the time shown on the post, in your time zone. If that time has already passed today, it goes out within a few minutes.

Each place on a post tells you what will happen: when it will publish, that it's on its way, that it was posted (with a link), or that it's yours to post, and why.

Posting it yourself

For a place you post yourself:

  1. Open the post on its day.
  2. Copy the words, and download the finished pictures or video.
  3. Post it on the platform.
  4. Back in IndieAM, choose I've posted this and paste the link to your post.

If you decide not to post it there, choose Skip. Until you do one or the other, the post stays in your daily reminder.

You can also post one yourself that would have published itself: choose I'll post this myself. Changed your mind? Choose Publish it automatically instead while its time is still ahead.

When a post can't go out by itself

Sometimes a post can't go out on its own. When that happens, we hand it over to you to post and tell you why:

  • It wasn't ready at its time: it was missing photos or its video.
  • Publishing failed: the platform refused it. If YouTube turns it away because it's too busy, we try once more an hour later if it's still the post's day, and only tell you if that fails too.
  • It hadn't gone out after a while: check the platform before posting it yourself, as it may still appear there.
  • The account needs reconnecting.
  • Its day had passed when it was approved, or its day passed before it went out.
  • Billing stopped, or the business is being deleted.

When a post wasn't ready or failed, we'll email your team straight away, and it stays on the home until you mark it posted or skipped.

Changing your mind

Unapprove a post to stop it going out, while any place is still to go. Places already posted stay as they are, and one already on its way can't be called back.

You can edit an approved post: places it hasn't gone out to yet get the edited version.

If it goes out twice

Very occasionally a post that was handed over to you goes out by itself after all. We'll email you and show it on the post, with a link, so you can remove whichever copy you don't want.
